UCL Geology Collections

The Rock Room collection contains 40,000 geological specimens from all over the world and even outer space—from fossils to meteorites to minerals.

Collected since at least 1855 when the then UCL Geology Department founded a Museum of Geology. The Regional Planetary Image Facility (www.earthsci.ucl.ac.uk/research/plantaryweb) contains data from all of the NASA planetary missions since the 1960s covering all the planetary bodies in the solar system which have been surveyed to date by spacecraft. The Geology Collections are now jointly cared for by the Department of Earth Sciences and UCL Museums and Public Engagement.
